Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the team enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Planners parties.

Viewers can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
